Collection for Japan

Our hearts and prayers go out to the people in Japan. Even though we are only first graders we did discuss briefy this tragedy. Our school decided to do a collection for the Red Cross.Students wore their pajamas and brought in donations. Some of our students took money out of their own piggy banks.
Talk about a teachable moment! Our classroom donation totaled $58.42! WOW! The school collected between teachers and students about $650.00.
Thank you all for your generosity.

I Pledge Allegiance

Two of our first graders were recently chosen to salute the flag at our town council meeting. The students were loud and proud! They did an awesome job.

READ ACROSS AMERICA

We celebrated Read Across America on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Our students had a guest reader: a football player from our high school. He read the book Fortunately and That's Good No That's Bad.  The students really enjoyed listening to those stories. Later in the day we had a Dr. Seuss Reading Picnic. The students read their favorite Dr.Seuss stories to their favorite stuffed animals. They also had the opportunity to wear our Cat in the Hat hat! It was a great day. We had so much fun listening to the story Fortunately that we wrote our own book. We will post it soon.
